A
lot of things went my way when I stumbled into
the mortgage business in 1992. The first was
that I joined a company that had a two week extensive
training program. I realize now, how much good
training helped me explode out of the gate. When
I got promoted to manager of that company I continued
to work on their training program to make it
more geared to a purchase market. The owner sent
me to every mortgage and sales training available
and I took it all in and applied it. When the
rates shot up in 1994 and the industry volume
dropped in half this great company went under
because they were taking 6 months to close a
loan and could no longer honor the rates (sounds
